2005-06 Detroit Pistons at 2005-06 Dallas Mavericks

Detroit wins another nail-biter, close all the way and a freaky ending where both teams exchanged offensive fouls in the last 3 minutes of game. Dallas rode the great German in the first quarter to a 26-15 lead and Rip Hamilton had almost all the Piston points. DET caught up early by taking advantage of their flexible lineup - moving Tashaun, Rasheed, and Ben around on defense as needed. Tashaun matched up well with Dirk and at least kept him honest. The second quarter was a see-saw game and tied at 47 at the half. Score was 66-64 after the third quarter. In forth quarter Dallas began double-teaming Billups leaving Ben Wallace open. Ben had decent results with 19 total pts (most from Chauncey dazzlers). Pistons down by 1 and was called for 3 consecutive offensive fouls inside of 2 minutes. Ugh! Inside of a minute, Ben is wide open and gets fouled. Steps back and hits both for a 1 point DET lead. Dallas missed and Hal would not let the intentional foul occur despite a full 24 second shot clock. Wallace stuffed one for good measure at the buzzer and 81-78 win. This game was certainly the Pistons pace. Dirk has 33 points on 11/26 shooting and 14 rebounds. Rip scores 31 points on 11/20 shooting. Big Ben with 19 points on 7/12 for shooting and 5-10 on free throws with 16 rebounds. Det out rebounded the Mavs 50-37.
