"I have been an avid Strat gamer for about 25 years.
Strat-O-Matic has been the premier brand in the sports
simulation industry for 50 years. Strat's games are
uncanny both in terms of statistical accuracy and in
their ability to capture the nuances of the real games
they mimic. They are also fun, whether you're playing on
the tabletop, on your laptop or over the internet.
That's why the games have developed an expansive, often
fanatical, following that grows with each passing year.
In a nutshell, Strat-O-Matic is awfully good at what it
does and we couldn't be more pleased to be working with
them."

Strat-O-Matic Basketball is a sports simulation game where real
players and teams are rated to perform accurately based on
professional basketball statistics. As an exciting style of
fantasy basketball, you not only General Manage your team,
drafting and trading your players, but also as Coach you decide
your lineups, defensive assignments, and play actual simulated
basketball games on your way to the championship. You no longer
count abstract units of measurement such as “fantasy points,”
but rather you have one simple goal…to win games.
Strat-O-Matic Basketball is the best-selling board game and
computer text sim on the market. It combines statistical realism
and the ability to capture the “feel” of a pro basketball game
with life-like strategy decisions in games that can be completed
in a faction of the time it takes to watch a real game. As you
learn the game, you will keep coming back to play game after
game knowing your decisions influence victory or defeat.
Strat-O-Matic Basketball is a great tool to learn more about the
history of pro basketball as there is an extensive lineup or
historical seasons available for you to enjoy going back to the
1960’s. The game company has a well-established reputation for
thorough research and statistical integrity which allows each
era to come to life on your computer screen or tabletop.
Once
you have Strat-O-Matic Basketball, you can always keep it
up-to-date with the latest team and player ratings released each
year. When you play games using teams from pro basketball, you
will see what makes the championship contenders so good and the
cellar-dwellers so bad. The game allows plenty of flexibility to
create your “What If” scenarios or to setup your solo projects.
If you
enjoy competition, you can create your own league with friends
or join an already established one. There are a number of
leagues in the community that use Strat-O-Matic Basketball where
you will be able to match wits against others live through a
netplay feature that allows you to connect with others for a
game over the internet. You will find current keeper draft
leagues, historical draft leagues using seasons in the 1970’s
and 1980’s, “stock team” leagues that use real pro basketball
teams, and once in a while someone in the community will setup a
tournament.
If you
are someone who enjoys pro basketball and its statistics and
either would like to learn more about the history of the game,
have always wondered what would happen if one team from one era
could play against a team from another era, or the idea of
competition through a league sounds interesting, then Strat-O-Matic Basketball is the right game for you. Hope you
decide to join our community! |

“Hollinger and I are both
kids from the Strat-O-Matic generation. The industry
leader in sports simulation games for the last
four-something decades. Using the computer version of
Strat-O basketball, we're gonna simulate the three games
that are on tonight's schedule. I will play the computer
for Bulls at Mavs. Hollinger will play the computer for
Thunder at Lakers. And we will let the computer simulate
Rockets at Jazz. This is as close as we can come to real
NBA basketball tonight, because SOM does such good work
translating Morey-esque numbers into a player card that
accurately reflects player tendencies. Can't lie that I
still love Strat-O. It is a sensational game that has
stood the test of time.”
